Instructions on how to download and install Symantec Antivirus Corporate

Description:
Antivirus Software is required to be installed and running on all ResNet computers in order to gain internet access. If the Clean Access Agent fails to detect qualifying AntiVirus software you'll be prompted to install Symantec Antivirus Corporate.

You are currently being placed in a Temporary Role with limited network access to perform the necessary updates. Depending on which updates are missing, you may be required to perform several reboots.


Q: What antivirus software is supported by Cisco Clean access?

A: Cisco Clean Access supports most antivirus applications, provided that they are kept updated. For a complete list of supported antivirus applications, click this link.


Prerequisites: Log in as Administrator, shutdown third party firewall applications, use Internet Explorer.

Click here to download and install Symantec Corporate. Be sure to properly uninstall any previous antivirus products from your computer before beginnning the Symantec download. View our Flash video demo instructions for uninstalling and installing Symantec.


  1. Click the link for your operating system. (Figure 1.0)

  2. Look for the Internet Explorer Information Bar near the top of your Web browser. (Figure 2.0 )

  3. Click on the Information Bar and choose Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site... (Figure 3.0)

  4. In the Symantec Web Deployment page, click the Install now button to begin the installation process. (Figure 4.0)

  5. Look for the Internet Explorer Information Bar near the top of your Web browser. (Figure 5.0)

  6. Click on the Information Bar and select Install ActiveX Control... (Figure 6.0)

  7. Click the Install button to confirm the Symantec Installation. (Figure 7.0)

  8. A download progress will indicate the download status. (Figure 8.0)

  9. When the download is complete, the installer will begin. (Figure 9.0)

  10. When complete you will be prompted to update your antivirus definitions. Click Next to begin the update. (Figure 10.0)

  11. A progress bar will indicate the update status. (Figure 11.0)

  12. Click Finish to complete the update process. (Figure 12.0)

  13. You may see a warning that your virus definitions are out of date. If you completed LiveUpdate as instructed above, you may ignore this warning and click Close. (Figure 13.0)

  14. Return to the Cisco Clean Access Agent and click Next. If, after the install, you still fail, click CANCEL on the agent and RELOGIN. If there are additional steps that need to be taken before you can access the network, you will be given instructions on what to do.
