CCA Home > Wireless Announcement Georgia Southern University Wireless Project The Network Services team is excited to announce that a new wireless technology will be implemented soon that will standardize the university’s wireless infrastructure. This technology will also allow us to provide you with a higher, more reliable quality of service. The projected time line for this to be fully implemented is the 3rd week of October 2006. This will affect all existing areas that currently have wireless access which include Brannen Hall, the College of Education, and the College of Information Technology. Also during this time period we will be bringing online the Russell Union, Recreation Activity Center (RAC) and the Library. There will be more information to follow in the next few weeks. Georgia Southern offers two types of connections. One for Georgia Southern users and one for visitors to the campus. Below are links to guides for each type of user. Guides: Q&As: Q: What is the difference between the two wireless networks? A: The internal network requires each user to authenticate. Once authenticated, you can access resources behind the campus firewall (internal web servers, applications, network drives, etc.). The public wireless connection is for users who are visiting and do no have authentication credentials. These users cannot access internal resources. |
